Plumbing is a big one. Most commercial floors only have a few hookups and drains. Each apartment typically has at least 6. Building layout is another. You could only reasonably put apartments on the outside with windows. There would be a lot of wasted space in the core of the building. It's all possible, but the question becomes is it desirable to live there? Will the rents justify the cost to convert? I doubt it... |
