Layoff == rapid re-org You can achieve the same goal by redistributing the workforce / head counts across groups and wait for natural attritions, but it has some major downsides: * Slow due to endless debates and deals across all levels * Good people may leave before mediocre ones, since the latter may be difficult to leave. I don't think layoffs are good. But I think once you've located the problem, solving it sooner may be better than leaving it for further development. |
