See my other comments here for more info about the underlying technology. It is pretty incredible that sophisticated digital physical models of the human vocal tract were being done in the early 60s. This was able to be done largely due to the deep pockets of Bell Labs. A lot of R+D was put into the voice and voice transmission. |
