Employer spied on me and got my chats and accounts what to do

I’m deeply anxious and scared about all this and it’s just so crazy.

I’ve moved to a new country and found some work as a software dev there coming from uni. Everything already was pretty suspicious from the beginning. My coworkers were very angry all the time and racist. Then the gas lighting started. They would always talk to each other about something indirectly that was related to me or an information they got about me. As far as I’ve understood I’ve done the big mistake that I logged in to my iCloud and server through work laptop. So they got all my chats, passwords, etc. Also I think they got a lot of info about me from my previous employer. Then I’ve changed all my passwords (wallet + 2FA) but the gas lighting and old info revealing didn’t stop. Now I am very paranoid and I’m scared to go to work. I did nothing wrong except maybe being of Russian descent but not nationality and moving to another country. Help me please what should I do? I don’t have a lot of work experience so I think I can not leave…

And if I were to leave at some point would I get new problems?

Hi! I don't know in which country you are, but in Canada you should call a lawyer right away and also delete this post just for good measure.

The using your personal data might be illegal just as creating a hostile work environnement/harassement/whatever material and emotional damage you could argue.

I don't recommend escalating through HR - if your personal data has been used I would not feel comfortable with anyone there, and they can take action against you before you do if they smell foul (same situation is happening to a friend of mine)

Good luck!

Quickly look for another job and move on. Don't let them know where you go, if possible don't mention them in your resume.
Try to raise your issue with HR department / manager and support your claims with factual evidence.
