Of course it is totally overblown. People have been saying "art is dead" for 150 years+. This is just the latest iteration of "art is dead". "This time it is different". As if no one has ever said that before. Marble sculpture had its time as the dominant medium of the day. These articles are no different than lamenting the demise of marble sculpture. |
