This might sound like a dumb question, but why don't we just collect all the nuclear waste in the world and store it in the middle of nowhere in Canada and have that place governed by a UN-like organization, far away from the most densely populated areas of the world?

So, like constantly carrying such waste from all over the world to a single location, one that could be 8-10.000 miles away from some source locations?

What could possibly go wrong...

It remains dangerous for thousands of years, our species has limited experience of plans, organisations which make commitments on that scale of time.
