I think Reddit is tracking my phone?
4 points by rentzed 1156 days ago
I got permabanned from Reddit on my Android Google Pixel phone and whenever I would create a new account it would instantly get banned.

I tried reinstalling the app but it still banned my new account. I'm not familiar with App Development so I was curious to see if anyone could explain to me how they are tracking me and if I can do anything to get rid of it.

While on the topic of app development, I heard that apps can track more things about the user. For instance, there are ways an app can identify the IP of a user even if they are using a VPN but a website is unable to. Would appreciate if anyone could clear that up for me. Thanks

Yeah, it's just fingerprinting.
^^ They're probably fingerprinting based on some device specific info. Try a different client or a different device.
Reddit auto-moderator are powerful, this platform so powerful in terms of controlling spamming
You can try RedReader from F-Droid.
Do you know if there is something like this but for TikTok, IG, YouTube, and Twitter?
For YouTube, I definitely recommend NewPipe.
Why did you get permabanned?
A subreddit permabanned me for not following the 90/10 rule where only 10% of my content can be self-promotional.

I then tried to get back on the subreddit with another account that was following the rules. I got caught and got temporary ban from Reddit.

I then used another alt account on different subreddits but got caught and am now permabanned from Reddit.
