A hand-drawn graph can be a great tool for reasoning, because it only depicts the features we choose — everything else is imprecise, and it looks imprecise. For me, that's actually a better way of building a visual intuition for how a function works.
What you say can be true, but it sets a certain bar for clearly conveying the message artistically. I would say that bar was not met in this case. I found it so distracting I was compelled to go off to Desmos to draw it myself.
