This was illustrated by comparing his written argument, which was compelling, to the ChatGPT transcripts, which were insipid and bland, even when given the germ of an interesting point.

Maybe in a year ChatGPT will be retrained on a million AI thinkpieces and it will be able to construct an essay with some interesting points. But humans need to come up with and communicate those interesting points first.

This is why I call ChatGPT a mirror. And it's a really damn good mirror. But even the best mirror can only reflect that which already exists.
I think this is an excellent point. It will write great think-pieces as soon as humans come up with thinks to be trained on.
