Probably not really about word recognition, but about being an agent in the world. Reading is fundamentally a passive experience. The best reader in the world may as well be Stephen Hawking. From my understanding, Montessori is more about doing + engagement than passive learning, and the emphasis on writing would be a way to express those values. |
