An easy very easy way to fool this would be to introduce a random non zero distribution aka salt to every datum.

Wouldn’t that just shuffle the distribution of the digits rather than creating Benford’s (power) law distribution?
This would confound the trailing digit portion of a Benford's-law-style analysis, but not the leading digits.
