The worst that could happen is self replicating machines. Swarming, self-replicating killbots don't remotely need human or superhuman intelligence to destroy the world. The brains of a rat or a roach is probably quite sufficient. People have speculated that even something as unassuming as artificial grass, if it were just a tiny bit more efficient at converting sunlight to energy than the natural kind, could outcompete plants and wipe out the biosphere. I don't remember the original Terminator as being that smart. |
