Switzerland has the same or even more guns then USA per capita and they don't have these problems.

So the author destroys his entire argument in the 1st two lines.

There is about 1/5 the number of guns per capita in Switzerland as in the US: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estimated_number_of_civilian_g...

Also, keep in mind to the author's point Swiss gun ownership is heavily skewed towards rifles and long guns. Pistols are much harder to get ahold of in Switzerland.

Predominant does not require sole. And, I hazard a guess that the regulations around guns are... different. To say the least. Just scanning their regulations listed on Wikipedia, it is a very different thing than seen in the US. Such that your comment is clearly bad faith.
I'd encourage you to read further. Switzerland is an exception to the rule
