It's now possible to generate weaponized exploit code from the text of most security patches and bulletins. Programs can now reason about their failures and edit their own code to fix those failures. These new capabilities will also be available to malicious programs. I can imagine a few thousand lines of Python driving a strong LLM to autonomously breach other systems and spread itself, with the goal of obtaining resources to train bigger and bigger models. Defending against that will be much harder than creating it. |
