I'm very happy to share my latest publication with Prof. Danilo Mandic, "An In-Ear PPG-Based Blood Glucose Monitor: A Proof-of-Concept Study"! This research explores, for the first time, the ear canal as a potential site for non-invasive blood glucose monitoring. The in-ear sensor uses photoplethysmography (PPG) in combination with machine learning to estimate blood glucose levels without the need for painful fingersticks or invasive devices. My aim is to make diabetes management easier, more convenient, and less expensive for millions of people around the world, paving the way for earlier diagnosis and enhanced treatment of diabetes. Do you think there would be other locations that lend themselves to this, besides ear canal? People already use their ears for headphones a lot, so it might be difficult to use for some.
