I despise the recent sentiment that a war with China is imminent and unavoidable. Have we truly tried everything short of banning TikTok and preparing for an invasion of Taiwan?

The 1.8 million people that have been in concentration camps for a decade now don't have time for 'everything' to be tried.
I doubt that a war with China is really motivated by high moral goals. For me, it's much more a struggle for economic and military supremacy.

Today's China was built for decades by the USA. It was convenient to export pollution and import ultra-cheap stuff made possible by slave labor.

The imminence comes from the China side where their point of view is "we take Taiwan and claim the south china sea and we will go to war to do it".

There are no options with which to avoid war but make sure we are so constantly one step ahead of China that they never decide to wage it.

The TikTok ban and preparations, in this case, help to prevent war.

What would you propose to try?

The focus should be on containment and conventional deterrence. Build an alliance to isolate, undermine, impoverish, and humiliate China at every turn. Build up enough advanced weapons to wreck the PLAN if they try to seize more of the first island chain.
