Most of the customers that will pay you 20-40k for web work would never bother trying to stiff you; it would cost them more in process exceptions and legal review (which happens the first time the word "lawyer" occurs in an email message) than it does to simply pay you. But most of all, it's not their f'ing money. The company pays, not them. So I might be substantially more wary about working for someone who's paying out-of-pocket than I would for a real customer. |
