Sorry to hear yet another big layoff. Good luck to those impacted.

But, I don't always quite understand how Indeed is popular. For one, the UI is very 1990s. While simplicity has benefit, the presentation looks horrible and unauthentic. Like I always fear clicking on some sponsored ads leading to a malicious website, as if I am viewing Craiglist.

My understand is Indeed attracts mostly "lowered-paid" job seekers, which might explain the popularity. LinkedIn, I feel, at some point started trending toward professional (and I hate the word professionals, because a carpenter is a specialist, carpentry is a skilled profession).

From talking to job seekers in various domains, LinkedIn is mostly seen as catering to people working in "tech", while Indeed is seen as more generalist. Like, both have barman postings but a barman would rather go to Indeed than LinkedIn.
