Each of these "flip flops" probably lasted a good deal longer than the median 20+ person startup, so that seems pretty facile. But the parallel with CoffeeScript seems valid --- people on message boards are really not OK with nonstandard languages, and are never less happy than when a company they've heard something about does actual computer science of any kind.
