These are being rolled out across Australia. I believe they use computer vision to filter down the data and then pass it on to a human for manual verification. The proof is then a photo of you with a phone in hand.
I don't believe for a second that after the initial rollout the system won't be tuned for an "acceptable" false positive rate.

Once a penal colony always a penal colony...

(Not to say that a large majority of Western European and large minority of US jurisdictions won't try to do the same damn thing.)

Maybe in Australia where they had Covid camps, something like that could fly but I don't see that flying in America.

they can't make it illegal to check GPS or look at a map or change the radio station and they can't prove you were doing anything more than that.
