One of the best life hacks is never get the last word in on Reddit.

the second best life hack is to block the person your arguing with so that they can’t respond and you guarantee getting the last word
Or reply with a short slam dunk, then delete the comment. They'll see the notification and be able to read it, but can't reply.
This is how blocking works now. They changed it sometime relatively recently.

Utterly deranged.

blocking is even better because everyone else can read it too, so it just looks like the blocked person had no response to the comment and accepted “defeat”
I would think any seasoned Reddit argumentarian would have an alt or two they could reply to you with.
I beleive it and have seen it. But it's never happened to me in my ~8-9 years on the site. I guess I lucked out.
I still end arguments with a beautiful "we disagree, it's okay". Such a relief.
In Reddit arguments, there are only losers.
You can probably extend this to "Never get the first word." There have been people having arguments on reddit for years.

Amen. From about 1999 to ~2010, I was a practitioner of "don't wait up: somebody's wrong on the internet."

It gradually dawned on me that it was better for my mental health if I just avoided arguments as much as possible. I'm not perfect about it, but I rarely get into pissing matches these days.

I became a 10X Reddit user when I discovered this truth.
i just turn into a troll if it reaches this point
