The question should be "why". The reason is that we find ways to utialize it. Once Moores law or the essence of it comes to an halt, more effort will be put into making things more efficient. Maybe that's even a bit too pesimistic. Cloud computing already gives companies incentive to focus on efficiency for cost saving and there is a growing trend to write simpler more performant software to replace existing tools, however not specifically in the general purpose computing space. |
