This is a Khan Academy video discussing full reserve banking in contrast with the fractional reserve banking system we have today. Historically it came into existence before fractional reserve, and while it has some disadvantages, one prominent advantage is that bank runs are impossible. Converting to full reserve banking was proposed during the Great Depression. I thought it would be topical and interesting to look at and discuss given current happenings in banking. |
