The only thing keeping me from using Linux is the lack of OneNote support in Wine. Essentially, it is only this bug that needs to be fixed: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47135

I can't really understand that if there is a patch made which works, why it has not been merged into master yet?

Reading between the lines, the original patch doesn't work in current versions and there's no working new patch.

But more specifically since it was called a hack, I assume it's patching a function to return incorrect information that works with OneNote but could break other software that legitimately needs the information instead of truly fixing the issue.

Out of curiosity why is one note so useful to you? I'm not an avid note taker. But what are it's killer features? Or are you just vendor locked with so much of your own data in it?
Not op, but one killer feature I like is the ease of copy and pasting a webpage and getting all the formatting and images.

And I think the .one filetype is an open format. So there shouldn't be any vendor lock.

It's just a genuinely pleasant app to use. I just wish the dev team moved faster with features. Making a colored square shape is a pain. So although it can do most multimedia in a single file it's lacking in a robust shape tool.
