The paid plans get you a file attachment extension, which you can point to your cloud storage provider (e.g. Google Drive) via an authorization token and then use for attaching files to your notes.
My personal experience with it was awful: something clearly bolted on as opposed to nicely integrated as you'd expect; no inlining, no previews, and it would either periodically require resetting the token or not work entirely (I can't remember right now, it's been a while since I dropped it due to these annoyances and not really needing the feature).
Another data point for the paid options in general being buggy and unworthwhile. Tags, which they had the guts to remove from the free version, might be the most interesting feature worth paying for.
