Not only that, but this Ryzen 7950X3D costs $110 more than the Ryzen 7950X and is slower in nearly all cases. The exception being Red Dead Redemption 2 @1080p or 1440p, and even then for the bottom 5% slowest generated frames it loses handily to most of the chips measured, including last year's 5950X3D Ryzen. Yuck. It will likely remain a very niche product, only clueless gamers might fall for the marketing and spend the extra money for a part which actually performs worse in most real world scenarios. I wonder how many will actually sell for a higher price than the 7950X in the end. Perhaps AMD will only make very limited production batches. |
