SOA was all XML at the API level.

Serverless is RESTful, lower-level, and coupled to the cloud-provider's menu of containers, key/value store, authentication, &c.

"Synonymous" seems a stretch.

The comparison was between SOA and microservices. No one mentioned serverless.
