I like youtube quite a bit, but if someone told me I could either: a) have unlimited youtube forever or b) re-experience my first viewing of a favorite film (say, No Country for Old Men), I would always choose b.

This is likely my own personal bias, but great youtube is great entertainment. Great cinema is magic.

One's enjoyment of something is not based solely on the work itself, though it's certainly one of the largest components. One's enjoyment of a work is also based on how it makes you feel, e.g. nostalgia, current mood, or even who you're with (e.g. a special song shared by two people).

For some of us, Hollywood is actively destroying our ability to enjoy their works. When your favorite film's magic is on the wrong side of 20 minutes of unskippable trailers for old movies that sucked, the magic is gone.

This. I'm hard pressed to think of online content that is as transcendent as a great film.
