Weightlifting as a consistent form of exercise. I love to run but I have had issues with my feet. With weightlifting I have been able to work around any injuries and keep consistent. I started in my mid 40s after a foot injury that ended a good couple years of running and bodyweight resistance. When I couldn't run I started lifting much more consistently and actively building strength. Lower back pain, that I thought just went with middle age went away as I got stronger. Although I had one weightlifting injury that caused me to cut way back for 6 months I eventually recovered and went on to be stronger than before. I am now 61 and I really notice the difference as I look around at other men my age. Seventeen years of consistent resistance exercise makes a big difference. |
