The goal of late modern and even postmodern school has been to raise compliant soldiers, factory workers, maybe low level clerks, and also later to serve as a day nursery for kids / teenagers. This way of doing things indeed might be reaching its limits for the last half of a century. But this is somewhat off topic because the article is talking about essays in the context of a university, not school, education. (Not to mention that parents are still at least partially responsible for their children's education.) |
