Reducing package size can be in the interest of the user sometimes, e.g. if most people need less or won't use the whole package in time for perishables.

However it should be required to advertise the size reduction on the new packaging, including before and after price per amount.

I find this is what supermarkets do. They sell you basil and other fresh herbs in MASSIVE packs that you will likely only use 1/4 of for any meal. The rest goes bad and gets tossed out.

It's basically a scam to make you feel like you are getting an ok deal because you are getting so much. But really it is just a way to charge you more without seeming like a price raise.
