The modern Disney Parks have a myriad of problems and one of them is definitely the insistence that guests utilize apps, etc but not because of the absolute paranoia outlined here.

It was (obviously) previously possible to visit Disneyland without this sort of antics, so I don't think the problem lies with the author.

It's more like the author is demonstrating to what ends you need to go to maintain a modicum of privacy.
