Not layoff-specific, but here are questions [1] you should be asking your manager at every 1:1 meeting: How is your week going? What are some of your priorities for this week? What challenges have you been having? How can I help you? What feedback do you have for me? You will get more information from the answers to these questions than if you were to directly ask your manager "Am I expendable in the next layoff?".
