I used to run mail servers that had outbound email. I wish you the best. It’s was a challenging endeavor then and it’s even more so now. And you’re sending email that will get flagged as spam. But I enjoyed it and found it time consuming but rewarding. Good luck.

Thank you! Why did you quit? Was it because the market was too competitive or you wanted to focus on something else? 2. Did you mean that my verification email is marked as spam in your inbox? I use firebase and haven't set up the domain yet, so I guess that's why.
I mostly did it as a part of devops/sysadmin work for various companies I worked for and companies I contracted for. A mix of user email and B2C/B2B email. A lot of time spent trying to keep off of spam lists or unflag ourselves with providers, follow specific mail provider's requirements for sending their user's email, that kind of thing. Back then there were multiple standards for verifying your egress mail servers were legitimate and I imagine things have settled a lot. And of course contending with sales people that got too aggressive with marketing from their company mailbox or marketers not following guidelines for solicited (or unsolicited mail).

There's a lot I would have done differently if given the chance and that's not even knowing what the field looks like today.

Thank you for all that insight! It's gold. Yeah, I also got the impression that the e-mail industry is pretty old, and only a few big players rule them all. I feel that everything is pretty messy still haha, because everyone has their own methods of trying to prevent spam? Thanks for helping out so much!
