How will enabling alternative browsers from Safari's takeover of Apple-based products, somehow bring the end of other browsers elsewhere? If anything this helps prevent that and since Chromium is open source, app creators can distribute their own browsers if so desired. Lots of people like to complain about the lack of having 100 different browsers to choose from with different backend engines, but if it is so easy then feel free to get started on it.

You're not thinking it through. Take a look at browser dominance on the desktop: https://www.oberlo.com/statistics/browser-market-share

Some sources have it even more skewed. And when you throw in Edge, it's definitely more skewed.
