Deepfake videos were already used in the recent Brazilian elections. The side that used them (Bolsanaro) lost, so I'm not sure how effective they were. I think the media domain is already so polarized and misleading that presenting people with fully synthetic 'facts' is probably a difference of degree, rather than kind, from what the media already does. |
