Agile had the scrummaster role. The authors of the Agile manifesto said that this role was supposed to rotate in the group of coders and eventually be phased out once the group got used to the process. The agile process in its final form has no managers.

That's Scrum, not Agile. Scrum is a way to, theoretically, get to or introduce Agile concepts but it is not the entirety of Agile (either the theoretical or practical forms).
