Well you're not alone with this view. This is were Valetudo and dustbuilder should be mentioned. With these projects, you can replace the nasty privacy-invasive bits in the vendor's SW stack. There's a buying guide to find a matching rootable robot for your needs:

But i couldn't be happier with the result, having automated the vacuuming and mopping. |
