SDR is neat, and it's nice that this is coming to the pi... but I have concerns about letting random unlicensed people have transmitters. At least on the expensive kit, there was the price barrier that kept most people away.

Price barriers typically have a limited lifespan, I think this project being distributed as a set of design files instead of a product you can purchase is a far more effective way of keeping most people away.
