That's not strictly true -- T-Mobile US does offer a discounted plan if you bring your own phone.

Decently -- on their highest plan, it's a $20 difference: http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/individual-plans.aspx vs http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/monthly-4g-plans
