The pattern is the point. I don't think people are going to catch on because it's fun for them to ride the wave. If the man on the tv tells me M&Ms are not sexy anymore and that's bad, I have a week of outrage over it before he tells me gas stoves are good.

Those outside of that loop see it as obvious, but when you are in it, it's real hard to get to the surface.
