It is absolutely mind blowing that windows update was thought to be the platform where you should download apps.

I guess it shouldn't really surprise me given that they are still making the same mistake 20 years later.

I think that kind of thing is the result of when you let developers do things that they think are clever instead of having designers thinking of UX and making those decisions.
