This article tries to gently update the public’s 1930s worldview in teaching us that bank reserve don’t matter anymore and haven’t for a long while and to a lesser degree their respective central banks don’t either. What matters is balance sheet capacity and how constrained it is or isn’t (Hint: it’s very constrained since 2008). |
