Loans create deposits. Balance sheets have to balance. The loan creates the advance, and the advance is transferred to the credit of another person - which is either directly the payee, or the bank where the payee has the account. Simple double entry accounting. |

When a bank makes a loan they already create a corresponding pair of asset and liability on their balance sheet.
