Unpopular opinion: in engineering, control processes are often confused as "bureaucracy". Regulations and adhering to standards is a GOOD thing and worth the time because it reduces risk (and hazards) and failures.
the problem is usually that the process becomes a monolith, loses its efficiency.
the solution is to have more than one way to do something so these processes can keep each other in check. (eg. majority of devs start using process B instead of A then there is a clear signal that A is inefficient, so owners of A are incentivized to make A better...)
