A text editor is a tool. Text files are only "human readable"/"human editable" in the sense that such tools are ubiquitous whereas structured data editors are not. Which is a real shame. Entering, manipulating and validating small amounts of structured data is such a fundamental task when using computers that it deserves dedicated tools, and the sheer amount of issues that only exist because such tools are not ubiquitous is absolutely mindboggling. |
