San Francisco apparently does not allow employers to consider convictions more than seven years old.

A lot of places only go back seven years; but, he said one of those convictions was seven years ago and maybe that one is howing up.

He doesn't address it; but, those convictions could have put him on the state's sex offender registry. A lot of places won't hire a registered sex offender, regardless of the actual crime that put them on the registry.

It's possible being on the registry is what's getting him. I think different states have different rules, but many don't take people off (iirc).
