Lousy engineering and poor oversight of how the designed systems interact, and lack of KISS solutions such as manual overrides may have contributed. One theory: The engine surged power because it thought there was a danger of stalling the turbine, and whatever mechanism was supposed to get rid of such potential excess thrust didn't work or wasn't implemented. |
