The horrors are in high technology, and biology. The normalization of genetic engineering will eventually allow us to make changes to people to make them more complacent for horrid conditions. Imagine an entire underclass that not only doesn't notice the squalor, but are too content to fight the abuse heaped upon them. This, in conjunction with VR entertainment, will be a method used to permanently imprison the lower classes in breif bliss existence before returning to their 16 hour shift at a suicide net equipped war crime factory. |
