A hard truth is that truths that are difficult to arrive at will not be accepted and appreciated at popular online forums anyway. Worse, such conclusions will be criticized by people who have not put in the time and effort.

Moreover, the incentives for posting in most forums tends to have some sort of up voting mechanism. I find that many time it skews my thinking away from focusing on the boring obvious truth, and rather go on a "interestingness" journey and waste a lot of time.

However, the rare occasions when you find real fellow experts on the topic to discuss with, it is of great value and adds to one's existence and well being.
